item description: A fine carpet with lustrous wool woven in a traditional Afshar pattern. The red medallions derive from Ottoman court carpets of the 16th century. This carpet is dated in two places (see detail pictures). The carpet is in very good condition - there is overall light wear but no damage. The colors are all natural with a fine indigo blue and a strong madder red. A very good carpet with over 100 years of age and plenty of life left in it.
