Signed “P. G. Nelson” lower right front Oil on artist's board in period frame 12" X 20" (board) 16 1/4" X 24 1/4" (frame) A "plein-air" view of s smoketree in the California desert. Peggy Nelson lived in San Francisco in the 1930's and is listed in Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940". This painting was made around 1940. In good condition, with no restoration, recently cleaned and varnished.
